News from the committee

 

I am happy to announce our Volunteer Award recipients this year. We are very lucky to have such a strong parental volunteer force. These women (and man) will be recognized at an award ceremony on April 28th during the Annual General Meeting of the Quebec Federation of Home and Schools. Congratulations and Thank you for all your hard work everyone!!!

Family MOVIE NITE: Everyone had a great time at our first movie night presentation of “Puss in Boots” despite the snow storm. Thanks everyone for your support! The H&S committee have decided to continue to present Movie Nights and welcome suggestions of movies you would like to see on our big screen. Please send your ideas to magda.a@ca.inter.net. Fundraising from these events will be channelled into an “Arts and Culture Fund”. Magda Arciszewska-McDowell

 

Fundraising: We will not be selling the “Entertainment Books” for the 2012-2013 school year and we are looking for new and creative ways of fundraising. Any ideas are welcome!! Send them via email to laurieannnisbet@yahoo.com or handwritten in an envelope marked “H&S fundraising” to the school office.

Overview of the Home & School Committee

 

The Home and School Association is an independent body that organizes volunteers and raises funds to supplement the school budget and to enhance school programs. Home and School members decide how the funds will be spent within the school programs. As part of the network of Quebec and Canadian Home and School Associations, we get advice, ideas on fundraising and liability insurance for each member.

The Home And School Association organizes and funds:

  •  Welcome Pizza Party

  •  Parent workshops and conferences

  •  Christmas Baskets

  •  Allergy Awareness

  •  Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week

  •  Montreal Children’s Hospital Fundraiser

  •  Library Books and Equipment

  •  Computers

  •  Music Programs and Equipment

  •  End of the School Year Party

  •  Annual Fair / Bazaar

The Home and School Association extends an open invitation to parents, staff and other interested members of the Dorval Elementary Community.

We meet every second Wednesday of the month, unless otherwise notified. There will also be an agenda posted on the bulletin board in the entrance to the school and copies will be available at the office.
